Why can't JW's eat from street vendors?
by TresHappy inmy parents said they received a directive from the society not to buy from the street vendors at the district convention.
is that just a unique situation?
i don't think this has to do with religion, but revenue...

Could it also be they simply don't want "worldy" people hanging around? If you have concession workers at a stadium, you have lots and lots of people working, not just people working the counters selling, people cooking, packaging, cleaning, transporting, etc. It would be like invading the holy land, the witnesses would be inviting the world to join them.
Plus, heaven forbid someone worker there actually listens to the crap they spew and starts provoking the sheep to think
or
god forbid an apostate gets a job serving food to the holy witnesses!!! jebus saves us!
can you imagine the guildlines the WTS would try to impose on the food vendors. Ok, no one talk to our members about anything except the transaction and they cannot be an ex-jw, homosexual (they could contaminate the food), a member of any other fanatical religion, anyone related to deprogramming, anyone who works in the psychiatrict field, etc. The screening proccess would be cost prohibitive and silly. Of course the vendors would do zero screening and many people who would like to help the witnesses (deprogrammers, apostates and psychiatric workers) would get in and probably help a few people. Thus the WTS will not allow it.
whatever, sometimes I think they deserve to eat that turkey and mayonnaise sandwich that was sitting in the sun for 6 hours.

Would You Go Back To A Kingdom Hall For A Funeral or Wedding?
by minimus inlet's say one of your relatives either died or invited you to a wedding at a hall, would you go?
-
Sirius Dogma
I go to my sisters wedding next week. I was freaking out a bit and concerned that I would have to be very very drunk to attend a witness wedding in the kingdom hall. I finally talked to her about it and she told me it was not going to be at the hall, I breathed such a sigh of relief and told her "I love you! You don't know how much that means to me. I don't ever want to back to that terrible place." I don't think she knew exactly how to take it or react and she didn't say much. I was going to go even if it was in the hall, she is my only sister after all, but I would have needed to be very wasted.
So I won't have to be as drunk as I originaly thought, it will still be a witness wedding, with plenty of witnesses, but it won't be in the KH and I will have plenty of non-dub family around for support and drinking binges. I will try not to laugh during the ceremony when they mention 'jehover this and um-a-get-dumb that'. In reality I am still friendly with most of the witnesses, I can't say there is one of them I don't like, I just don't being preached to and I hope none of them tries that crap.
wish me luck

I have seen a lot of the paintings that actually have appeared in the magazines and books, some of them are oil paintings hanging at watchtower farms. If you know anyone who paints, often an old paintings gets recylced, and new paintings painted over the old paintings. So their could be an underlying image, this is an art after all and not a science. I think the real questions might be:
1 - was this done on purpose
2 - and with malicious intent
3- and 100% obvious (although just because something is obvious does not make it true)
I have plenty of friends who are artists and have made paintings and drawings that contain plenty of psychological aberrations. Actually quite a few of my own drawings contained strange images and faces when I looked at them some time later and tilted them around. So even if these do exist they are likely the combined product of any artists active human mind and an observers paranoid mind.

Did you wear your badge outside the convention, so as to "give a witness?"
by truthseeker inthis year at the dc, we were expressly told to wear our badges at all times, even when going to a restaurant or some place else, so we could "give a witness.".
did any of you hear follow through with this arrangement?
did you have one of those "fantastic" experiences, when someone commented on your badge?.
-
Sirius Dogma
Yes, I wore mine all the time.
It was part of the suit, I would sooner take off my tie, which I never did.
Since I was raised a
freakwitness byfreakswitnesses and only associated with otherfreakswitnesses I didn't even know people saw me as awitnessfreak for wearing it. -

Yeah, it is like the onion or the guy who writes this likes to make up quotes and see how people react. Kinda funny actually. A lot of people take it seriously.
Or these:
Edwards Pick Forces Cheney Choice: Avacor or Rogaine
(2004-07-06) -- Now that Vice President Dick Cheney will likely face Sen. John Edwards in debate this fall, Republican insiders say he also faces an historic decision: Avacor or Rogaine?
"I'd like to say that the vice presidential contest pits a seasoned veteran against a flash-in-the-pan rookie," said the unnamed GOP source, "But the reality is, people evaluate character by results. If you can produce a thick, luxurious cranial covering, that's considered a mark of good character."
In addition to over-the-counter and prescription medications, Mr. Cheney has also considered hair implants.
"The time's too short to do the implants," the source said. "Cheney can't go on TV while his head looks like a cornfield in mid-June."
or this one LOL!
Kerry Backs Pre-Conception Abortion
(2004-07-05) -- Just a day after revealing that he believes life begins at conception and that he opposes abortion yet supports abortion rights, Democrat presidential hopeful John Forbes Kerry today announced his plan to implement "pre-conception abortions".
"Unlike the brutality of uterine abortions which savagely destroy human lives," Mr. Kerry said, "Pre-conception abortions can be executed painlessly with sedatives on irresponsible couples. It would end their lives, preventing behavior that may lead to abortions."
Mr. Kerry, who is also a U.S. Senator, said the problem of unwanted pregnancy actually begins some time before conception in a process not fully understood by science.
"My plan would deal with the issue upstream and would truly make abortion rare," he said. "But it's only a temporary solution. Ultimately, science will show us how to identify embryos and fetuses which are predisposed to becoming adults who produce unwanted pregnancies so we can abort them before they have a chance to do that. I support a woman's right to abort a fetus which is destined to create an unwanted pregnancy."
